A photo has appeared on the internet of a prototype motherboard with the package with Intel processor and AMD GPU. Last Monday, Intel announced that it would come up with such a package, for thin and light laptops with high graphics performance.

Bits and Chips publishes the photo on Twitter, without any explanation. The image shows the Intel processor, with it at some distance, but part of the package, the AMD GPU and the HBM2. It is a prototype motherboard, not a laptop motherboard, and it has a 14-phase power supply.

Last Monday, Intel announced the arrival of a package with Intel Core H processor, AMD GPU and HBM2. Intel teamed up with AMD’s Radeon Technologies Group to design a semi-custom graphics chip. Intel has more plans for GPUs: it hired Raja Koduri from the Radeon branch as chief architect to make high-end GPUs.

Notebookcheck reports on some benchmarks that have come out that are said to come from the Core i7-8705G and i7-8809G with the AMD Radeon GPU. In the 3DMark 11 Graphics Performance test, i7-8705G and i7-8809G score 3777 and 3960 points, respectively.

That’s less than a GTX 950 from Nvidia, but more than a GTX 940MX. There is also a benchmark from Ashes of the Singularity, in which the Radeon GPU of the Intel package scores comparable to a GTX 1050 or GTX 965M. It is not known whether the benchmark scores are authentic or representative. Intel has indicated that the laptop chip with CPU and GPU will be released in the first quarter of 2018.

Update, Friday, 08.20: Hardware.info found out that a second photo is on the internet, on the Chinese site Chiphell. This shows the entire board with the package.
