The French car manufacturer Peugeot has presented a new version of the 208 hatchback. In addition to the usual diesel and petrol engines, the company also releases an all-electric variant. It has a 50 kWh battery.

Peugeot reports that the so-called e-208 will have an electric motor that delivers 136 hp and a torque of 260 Nm. Drivers can use 100kW chargers, with which 80 percent of the battery must be charged within thirty minutes. The internal charger can handle three phases and thus 11kW charging is possible; This means that the battery can be fully charged in 5 hours and 15 minutes.

The new 208 car is built on the Common Modular Platform, so that cars based on it can be adapted to all types of drivetrains, including an electric motor. This means that the electric variant has the same luggage space and space in the interior as the regular combustion engine variants, according to Peugeot.

The new version of the 208 will hit the market sometime in the fall of this year and will be shown for the first time in March at the Geneva Motor Show. When the electric 208 will be released and for what price has not yet been announced.
