Pebble, manufacturer of the smartwatches of the same name, promises that it will come with new products this year. This includes a new platform that works completely differently from the current one, promises Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky.

Pebble CEO Migicovsky does not want to disclose details to The Verge. It is therefore unclear whether the company really has new hardware in store. It is clear that there will be a new software platform that users will interact with in a different way than is usual on smartwatches, the CEO of the company promises, which resulted from a successful Kickstarter campaign. “It doesn’t look like something we have today or that runs on your smartphone,” Migicovsky said.

The Pebble CEO also wants to say that Pebble shipped its millionth watch at the end of December. In March last year, Pebble sold its five hundred thousandth smartwatch. The number of employees also grew considerably last year: from 30 to 100 people. Among them were some of LG’s design team for WebOS on TVs.

Pebble, which was one of the few smartwatches on the market until less than a year ago, has seen a lot of competition in recent times. This was partly due to the introduction of Android Wear, the version of Android for mobile operating systems. Apple’s own smartwatch will be added soon.
