The Greek overclocker Sofoklis Oikonomou, also known as sofos1990, has managed to lift an Intel Core i9-7900X to a clock speed of 6.01GHz. That equates to a performance gain of more than 80 percent over the base clock of 3.3GHz.

He posted his results on Hwbot, where he currently ranks number one for the processor in question and for 10-core processors overall. It reached 6.01GHz for all ten cores and achieved a total of 12189.52 points. In addition to the CPU, he used an X299 SOC Champion motherboard from Gigabyte in combination with Trident Z memory from G.Skill and 1500W power supply from Corsair.

To provide the necessary cooling, he used nitrogen. The results were obtained at a voltage of 1.6 volts. It can also be concluded from the attached images that he managed to reach a temperature of -110 degrees Celsius. It is unclear how long Oikonomou was able to maintain the said tension.

An interview with Hwbot, published last year, revealed that the overclocker is now working for Gigabyte in Taipei, which explains the outlet shown. Intel announced the 7900X processor and other models at the Computex trade show in May. The CPU has been on sale since June 26 for about a thousand euros.
