Opera GX browser gets function to automatically fake search history
Opera GX has been given a feature that automatically clears browser history after two weeks of inactivity and fills the past two weeks with bogus searches. According to the browser, this feature can be used to prevent others from browsing real browser history.
Users can activate the feature by clicking the ‘Save my soul’ option in the browser history. If the Opera browser is not started for fourteen days after that, it will erase the entire search history. The last fourteen days are filled with fake searches that according to Opera only include ‘pleasant’ results, such as ‘how to donate to a food bank’ and nearest blood bank’.
According to the browser, this can be used in the event that the user has died and loved ones are looking through the search history. It is also possible to use the ‘Pretend I’m already dead’ button to immediately delete the search history and fake the results. The feature has only been added to the GX browser, a special version of the regular Opera browser that is specifically aimed at gamers.
