Oculus has announced that the price of the bundle with the Rift VR glasses and the Touch controllers has been definitively reduced to 449 euros. Previously, Oculus temporarily sold the set for this price. Webshops in the Benelux now also offer the bundle for a lower price.

In a blog Oculus announces the new price: in the US it is $399; in the Benelux, users pay 449 euros. The US price does not include VAT. The bundle consists of the Oculus Rift headset, the Touch controllers and a number of games and software programs. It is the same bundle that Oculus has been offering for the same price since July. That was an offer that was valid for six weeks. The Rift now costs twice as much as the upcoming Oculus Go, a VR headset that does not require a PC and runs software from the mobile VR headset Samsung Gear VR.

At the new price, the Oculus Rift is much cheaper than its main competitor, the HTC Vive. The price of those VR glasses with controllers was reduced in August from 899 to 699 euros. Both glasses came out in early 2016 and are the only high-end VR glasses for PCs so far. Samsung announced its HMD Odyssey at the beginning of this month, which has better specifications. These VR glasses for the Windows Mixed Reality platform will be released in November in the US for $ 499.
