Nvidia Game Ready drivers can no longer be downloaded separately from December

Nvidia will no longer make the installation files of its Game Ready drivers available separately. As of December, these updates, which include bug fixes and optimizations for new games, will only be available for download through the GeForce Experience software.

Nvidia has announced the change in the distribution of drivers in a press briefing, writes AnandTech, among others. Currently, GeForce GPU owners can download any driver update as a single file from the Nvidia website. In the future, this will no longer be the case and the manufacturer will post a major update on its website every quarter. Minor Game Ready updates, which often coincide with the launch of new games and aim to optimize the gaming experience, will require registration with an email address through the GeForce Experience.

It is not clear what the reason is for Nvidia to change the distribution. According to the manufacturer, driver updates are already performed in ninety percent of the cases via the software. With the GeForce Experience software, game settings can be optimized and Nvidia GameStream functionality can be used. Gamers also do not have to search for updates themselves, the software pushes them to PCs itself.

Nvidia has released a new beta version of GeForce Experience, which makes it possible to stream game footage in 1080p resolution at 60fps to YouTube and Twitch. It is also now possible to stream games in 4k resolution with 60fps and 5.1 surround sound to the Shield Android TV set-top box using the GameStream technology. According to Nvidia, a GTX 980 Ti GPU and Core i7 processor are required.
