After Ericsson, LG and ZTE, Nvidia also announced that it will not send staff to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of this month. This is due to the new coronavirus. The American chip designer is a major sponsor of the event.

Nvidia announced the decision in a short publication, in which it further states that it must put the safety of colleagues, partners and customers first. It goes on to say that it had given presentations on AI, 5g and vRAN, if it was present.

The GSMA, the organizer of the event, had already responded to this trend in response to Ericsson’s withdrawal on Friday morning. The organization regrets the decision, but also respects it. The GSMA states that it adheres to the guidelines prescribed by the World Health Organization WHO and calls on partners to do the same.

The virus, which broke out in December in the Chinese metropolis of Wuhan, has infected more than 34,500 people, according to the latest estimates, of which 722 have died, NOS writes. The virus is now estimated to have spread to 26 countries.

Huawei also called off a developer conference two weeks ago, to be held in Shenzhen on February 11 and 12. It will instead be held on March 27 and 28.
