Nothing, the company of OnePlus founder Carl Pei, is coming with its first smartphone in a few months. The aim is to build its own ecosystem. The smartphone market has proved particularly difficult to break into in recent years.

Nothing held a presentation on Wednesday afternoon to tease its first smartphone. It runs on Android with Nothing OS on top, a skin about Android in which, according to Pei, ‘every byte makes sense’. Pei said nothing further about the specifications and the design, but it is already clear that the phone will have LED strips on the back with an unknown function and will run on a Qualcomm Snapdragon soc.
