Nintendo Switch gets subscription to play Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games

Nintendo Switch Online, Nintendo’s subscription service, is expanding to include Nintendo 64 and SEGA Mega Drive games. The games will be available at the end of October. Nintendo is also releasing N64 and Mega Drive controllers for the Switch, for sale to Switch Online members.

Access to the Nintendo 64 and Mega Drive games is part of a new subscription, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, which current Switch Online members can upgrade to. There is no price yet known for the new subscription and no exact release date, other than the end of October.

At the time the new subscription service goes live, in late October, the N64 games will be Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Star Fox 64, Yoshi’s Story, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Dr. Mario 64, Mario Tennis, Lylatwars, Operation WinBack and Sin And Punishment. Classic multiplayer games such as Mario Kart 64 can be played online with up to four players. Nintendo does say that “additional accessories” may be needed for multiplayer, which will be sold separately. What Nintendo means by this is not yet known.

As part of the new subscription, Nintendo will be selling wireless Nintendo 64 and Sega Mega Drive controllers that can be used with the Switch. The controllers are 1-to-1 replicas of the originals, the Mega Drive controller is a copy of the original Japanese Mega Drive controller, not the US SEGA Genesis or European Mega Drive controller, which is slightly different. goods.
