Nikon has officially confirmed that it is working on the development of a new mirrorless camera with a full frame sensor. The company has also announced that the system camera will receive a new lens mount.

The Japanese manufacturer reports that new lenses will also be developed for the lens mount of the new camera. We are also working on an adapter for F-mount lenses, although it is unclear whether this is associated with maintaining autofocus. Nikon has also published little further details; the company says to share the official release date, prices and other information at a later date. The manufacturer reports that it just continues with the development of dslr’s.
On Tuesday, reported the Japanese camera blog Nokishita that in the code of a new Nikon website a timer is hidden that counts down to 23 August. This date corresponds with earlier rumors of NikonRumors but in the official confirmation of Wednesday, Nikon says nothing about this date or the release period.
The official confirmation from Nikon corresponds to a earlier rumor that the company would make an announcement for the new camera at the end of July. The rumor, however, reported that Nikon would also immediately announce two mirrorless cameras and three lenses. The latter is not yet happening, but according to this rumor, Nikon is going to release two cameras: one with a resolution of 48 megapixels for 4000 dollars, and a cheaper version with a resolution of 25 megapixels for 2500 dollars.
So far, Nikon has only a taster video is brought out, in which the contours of the new camera are visible and the emphasis is placed on the amount of light that the new camera could receive.
