The New Zealand stock exchange NZX closed for the third day in a row on Thursday after two ddos attacks caused ‘network connection problems’ earlier in the week. The stock exchange expects to open again on Friday.

NZX got the first ddos attack on Tuesday afternoon local time, according to the exchange the attack comes from outside New Zealand. That attack caused connection problems for NZX’s websites and market announcement platform. That is why the stock market stopped trading on Tuesday afternoon and the stock market would restart on Wednesday.

Last Wednesday morning, however, NZX had to endure another ddos attack, which was “similar” to Tuesday’s attack. Even then, the websites and the platform ran into problems and trading on the stock exchange was suspended for several hours.

On Thursday morning, the stock exchange closed for the third day in a row, according to the exchange due to connection problems caused by the DDOS attacks. It is not clear what connection problems the stock exchange has at the moment. NZX now says it wants to focus on solving the problems and work with cyber security experts to be able to stop the ‘threat’.
