Take-Two Interactive and 2K Games establish a new game studio working on a new BioShock game. The studio is called Cloud Chamber and the development of the game will take years. Details about the game are not yet available.

Kelley Gilmore is put in charge of Cloud Chamber. The new studio will have two divisions: one in Montreal, Canada and one in 2K’s headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States. Gilmore has 22 years of experience in the gaming industry. She previously worked at Firaxis on franchises such as Sid Meier’s Civilization and Xcom. Firaxis is also a studio of parent company Take-Two.

According to Gilmore, many employees who have previously worked on BioShock games at 2K Games are coming over to the new studio. The studio is also looking for new developers. Cloud Chamber has 36 vacancies online at the time of writing.

Details about the upcoming BioShock game are not yet available. The announcement only states that it will be worked on in the coming years. It is striking that Gilmore a year ago on Twitter said to be looking for a Senior Multiplayer Designer to work on an unannounced ‘triple-a, larger than life game’. Possibly that was already about the new BioShock game.

The first BioShock game appeared in 2007. Part two came out three years later and BioShock Infinite was released in 2013. Remasters of the first two parts were released in 2016. All BioShock games so far are made by 2K Games.
