New Nokia budget smartphones have bigger screen and Snapdragon socs

HMD has announced three new budget smartphones. The Nokia 1 Plus, Nokia 3.2 and Nokia 4.2 will have larger screens than their predecessors. The Nokia 3.2 and 4.2 have a notification LED on the side and are equipped with a Snapdragon soc.

Nokia 4.2

With recent versions of the Nokia 3 and 4, HMD made the switch to MediaTek-socs, now the manufacturer uses chips from Qualcomm again. The Nokia 4.2 costs 199 euros and has a housing with glass on the front and back. The 5.7″ screen has a resolution of 1520×720 pixels with a drop-shaped notch at the top. HMD provides the device with a Snapdragon 439-soc, a chip with eight Cortex-A53 cores. The device contains a 3000mAh battery .

The Nokia 3.2, which is priced at 149 euros, contains a Snapdragon 429 core with four cores, but this device has a larger screen with a diagonal of 6.26″ and a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. The notch is shaped the same. as with the Nokia 4.2 The device also has a larger battery, with a capacity of 4000mAh.

Nokia 3.2

The affordable Android One phones both have a fingerprint scanner on the back and also support face unlock with the front camera. A new notification LED is incorporated in the power button on the side. Both devices also have a physical Google Assistant button on the side.

The two phones have a 13-megapixel camera, only the Nokia 4.2 also has a second sensor on the back, which is used to simulate a depth of field effect. Versions will be available with 2GB or 3GB ram and 16GB or 32GB flash storage. The devices use the micro USB connection to charge the battery.

Furthermore, HMD has introduced the Nokia 1 Plus. That is a device of 99 euros with Android 9 Pie Go Edition. The new model has a 5.45″ screen with an 18:9 ratio and a resolution of 960×480 pixels. There is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of flash storage in the budget smartphone and the soc is an MT6739WW quadcore from MediaTek. The housing has a removable cover.

HMD will release the new budget devices in May in the Benelux. The phones were announced at Mobile World Congress, where the manufacturer also presented the Nokia 9 PureView with five cameras.
