New Google Home app shows smarthomehub function for Pixel Tablet

The Pixel Tablet seems to be getting a function to serve as a hub for smart home equipment. This is evident from screenshots of the new Home app that should be released later this year. It leaked out and is now publicly available online.

In the Home app there is a menu for a dock that is presumably for the Pixel Tablet, reports Mishaal Rahman of Esper.io. The code names for that are korlan and yuzu. The code also includes a link to the Play Store for a Nest Dock Managerpresumably an app for the tablet for use with a dock.

When users use the dock, in the Home app they can assign the tablet and dock to a room and include them in routines that users create for that room. There are no further details on how exactly that would work.

The new Home app is on APKMirror, but Rahman and others who have tried it do not recommend using it because many features are still missing and the app is unstable. Moreover, it is clear that it is made for internal use. This can be seen from the ‘dogfood’ logo and the debug menu in the app. Google announced the new version of the Home app on Tuesday.
