Dark Passenger, a new Polish game studio founded by former employees of CD Projekt Red, is working on an online game set in feudal Japan. It will be a first-person game that supports PvP and co-op and will run on the Unreal Engine 5.

Dark Passenger has no title announced yet, but has already revealed details about the upcoming game. The game takes place in a fictionalized version of feudal Japan in which a local shogun is overthrown by a conqueror. Anyone who takes on this conqueror is defeated and joins his army against his will. A hidden bastion of assassins sends out warriors to learn the secret behind the conqueror’s power and as a player you take on the role of such a warrior.

The game will feature many traditional Japanese weapons such as katana swords, wakizashi throwing knives, and shuriken throwing stars. Players will be able to fast-climb vertical objects using a shuko hand claw and use a spear to jump over obstacles. At certain moments in the game it will also be possible to walk over the arrows shot by opponents, although it is not yet clear how this mechanism works exactly.

Dark Passenger promises numerous possibilities to customize the appearance of the main character as well as that of the equipment in the game. It will also be possible to set up your own dojo and train there with other players. The developer states that the game will not be an mmo and that it is a match-based game. It will not be possible to play the game in single player mode. The game will be released on PC via Steam and the Epic Game Store and on Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. A release date has not yet been announced.
