New emojis: women with a beard and syringe without blood

New emojis are coming again. Some existing emojis are also being modified. For example, Apple updated the syringe emoji and removed the blood from the needle. She does this because the whole world is vaccinating against the coronavirus and the emoji can now serve as a vaccination emoji.

Other emojis also change

In the new iOS 14.5 beta, the headphone emoji is now an AirPods Max. There are even beard emojis available for both men and women. Gender neutrality is very important to Apple.

Making vaccination more accessible

By removing the blood from the needle of the syringe emoji, Apple seems to want a more neutral image of vaccinating yourself. The squirt emoji is much older than the coronavirus outbreak. It dates from 1999 and was mainly used for blood donation in Japan and was standardized within the Unicode standard in 2010.
