Netflix and Ubisoft are working on an anime series based on Splinter Cell. This is evidenced by rumors, which Ubisoft confirms. Derek Kolstad, who wrote the John Wick films, among others, is reportedly involved in the production.
Netflix has signed directly for two seasons and sixteen episodes, according to Variety. The Splinter Cell series was to be written by Derek Kolstad. Among other things, he worked on the three current John Wick movies and is currently involved in a Just Cause movie. Ubisoft has confirmed its partnership with Netflix, according to Polygon. The streaming service has not yet released anything about the project itself.
The first Splinter Cell game came out in 2002. The stealth games are about spy Sam Fisher, who carries out missions on behalf of Third Echelon, a secret division of the American intelligence service NSA. In total, Ubisoft released seven games in the franchise, the last of which came out in 2013.
Netflix previously made an anime series based on a game. A Castlevania series appeared in 2017, of which a third season was released this year. Ubisoft is also rumored to be working on animated series about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, Watch Dogs and Rayman: Raving Rabbids. When and on which platform they will be released is not yet known.
