MSI introduces power supplies ‘for the latest generation of Nvidia cards’

MSI has announced its first power supplies. It concerns three models in the new MPG GF series, which, according to the company, support the latest generation of Nvidia cards. The power supplies do not have a 12-pin connection, but MSI may supply an adapter.

The three power supplies are atx format and are named MPG A650GF, MPG A750GF and MPG A850GF for the 650W, 750W and 850W versions respectively. MSI gives as examples of configurations the use of three 8-pin connections for graphics and two for CPU or the use of four times 8-pin for the graphics and one for the CPU. In addition, they have four 6-pin connections for SATA hardware components.

Thus, while MSI emphasizes support for the latest generation of Nvidia cards, the power supplies lack a 12-pin connection. Nvidia confirmed on Wednesday that this connection will be made, presumably for a new generation of RTX cards that it will announce on Tuesday. With that confirmation, Nvidia already made it clear that the 12-pin connector is compatible with PCI-e cables with eight pins by means of an adapter. The MPG GF power supplies carry an 80 Plus Gold label to indicate their efficiency and contain Japanese capacitors, which are known for being of high quality. Nothing is yet known about prices and availability.
