Mozilla Makes Firefox Send Encrypted File Sharing Service Available

Mozilla has pulled Firefox Send from beta. The file sharing service allows anyone to send files up to 1GB and provide content sharing links with an expiration date.

Firefox Send allows multiple files to be uploaded via a web interface and made available by sharing a resulting link. Users can then specify whether the availability should expire after one or more downloads, with the maximum being 100, or whether the offer should expire after 5 minutes, 1 hour, 1 day or 7 days.

By default, users can share up to 1GB at a time for free, but those who log in with their Firefox account can make up to 2.5GB available. The availability is linked to a password and Mozilla provides its service with end-to-end encryption. The organization hopes that the privacy and security options are distinctive enough compared to competitors such as Dropbox and WeTransfer. Send is also coming out for Android. Firefox Send was introduced on July 2017.
