Mozilla announced the “Promoted Add-ons Pilot” program on September 9, 2020. Mozilla announced this on its official Add-ons blog. “Promoted Add-ons Pilot” program will run between September and November 2020 and may be converted into full service for Firefox add-on developers thereafter.

The main idea behind the new “Promoted Add-ons Pilot” service is to provide options for add-on developers and companies to have their add-ons manually reviewed by Mozilla and, as a result, promote them on the Mozilla website.

Called Promoted Add-ons, the system allows developers to get a verified badge on their add-ons profile page and their add-ons promoted on the Mozilla AMO homepage. Developers are only allowed to pay Mozilla for the review, including the verified badge, as well as to get their add-ons on the home page of the add-ons site.
