Motorola has started providing the Android Oreo upgrade for the Moto G4 Plus. Version number 8.1 of the Android OS is arriving over-the-air, starting with US users. It is expected that the regular version of the G4 will also receive the software.

The release notes for the upgrade are already on Motorola’s US support page. So it concerns version 8.1 of the Android operating system, and in addition, the security patches have been updated until December 1 of last year. Finally, several bugs have been fixed that should make the system more stable.

For now, only US users of the Moto G4 Plus have access to the software, but users elsewhere in the world are expected to gain access to the upgrade soon. The Moto G4 is also expected to be offered Android 8.1.

The upgrade to version 8.1 of Android has been expected for some time. Motorola had promised to come up with the upgrade quite some time ago, but seemed to have quietly stopped development after that. When that led to outrage among users, Motorola said it would still come with the software.
