Capcom’s Monster Hunter franchise is coming to theaters. The German film production company Constantin is working on the film with a budget of around fifty million euros, production will start in September.

According to Variety, the film will be shot in South Africa around Cape Town and production company Constantin is working with ‘a big company’ from Japan and another company from China. Both companies are participating in the project and negotiations are in the final phase.

The film script is being written for director Paul WS Anderson. He was also responsible for the script of the Resident Evil movie, which came out last year. Actress Milla Jovovich, who played in that horror film, would also participate in the Monster Hunter film.

Martin Moszkowicz, chairman of Constantin’s board of directors, sees Monster Hunter as a ‘series of films’. So the film production company may have plans for more Japanese game themed movies.

Capcom recently announced that Monster Hunter World is the best-selling game ever from the Japanese developer. About eight million copies of the game have been shipped since its release early this year. Monster Hunter World is the first game in the series to be available immediately worldwide. Previous games were especially popular in Japan.
