Super Evil Megacorp, the company behind the mobile moba game Vainglory, has announced that it will make the Android and iOS game playable on PC and Mac. It has made available alpha builds for these platforms.

In an announcement, the company writes that it was able to release the game for Mac and PC thanks to its so-called Evil engine. Super Evil Megacorp emphasizes that it is an early version; improvements are still needed in the field of entering text, settings, user interface, key bindings and adjusting inputs. The company promises to release regular updates in the coming months.

In an accompanying faq, Super Evil Megacorp mentions that desktop players will play together with mobile players, meaning there will be no separate matchmaking. It has not published any specification requirements, but expects the game to be playable on most systems. Purchases don’t work on the desktop yet; for this, players must first log in to their mobile again.

Vainglory is a moba game that is somewhat similar in gameplay to League of Legends and Dota 2. There are several modes such as a five-versus-five mode where the player can choose between different characters. The game was released in 2014 for iOS and a year later for Android. The counter on the latter platform now stands at more than ten million downloads. The Mac and Windows clients can be downloaded from the Vainglory site.
