MMD introduces 27″ Philips monitor with curved VA panel

MMD has announced the Philips 278E9. This gamer-oriented monitor has a screen diagonal of 27″ and features a curved VA panel with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

The VA panel of the Philips 278E9 has a curvature of 1800R, which is equal to the curvature of a circle with a radius of 1.8 meters. Furthermore, the monitor has support for AMD’s FreeSync, although it is not clear at which values ​​the refresh rate of the monitor is synchronized with the output of the GPU.

The maximum panel refresh rate is 60Hz and the specified gray-to-gray response time is 4ms. The screen has a static contrast ratio of 3000:1, a maximum brightness of 250cd/m² and viewing angles that are 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically. The panel does not support HDR and can display 128 percent of the sRGB color space.

The Philips 278E9 has two speakers with a capacity of 3W and has a displayport, a VGA and an HDMI input. The monitor stand can be tilted slightly. The screen should be released sometime in the fall and costs 229 euros.
