The American University MIT wants to raise $5 billion for its own research in the fields of health, the environment, entrepreneurship and more. To date, the institute has already collected 2.3 billion euros for ‘The Campaign for a Better World’.

MIT has set up a website for the campaign. It is divided into six different sections covering areas such as physics, evolution, medicine, the environment, food production, energy, education, entrepreneurship and more. In addition, the money goes to the university itself, so that the institute can pay for the various faculties and scholarships. This will help attract more students.

Researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have historically been responsible for such things as the first synthetic production of penicillin and the discovery of a human cancer gene. In addition, it achieves relatively smaller milestones such as an incandescent lamp that is more energy-efficient than an energy-saving lamp and a Wi-Fi router that knows exactly where its users are. The 2.3 billion euros that MIT has already collected consists of donations from alumni of the university.
