Microsoft shows Edge browser for Linux

At the digital version of Microsoft’s developer conference Build, the company showed its Edge browser during a short presentation. This one ran on Linux. It has been clear since last year that Microsoft is working on this.

A software developer believed to have attended the digital version of Build, posted a screenshot on Twitter showing Microsoft’s Edge browser running on Linux. It is the first time that Microsoft shows that Edge runs on Linux.

It became clear last November that a version of the browser is on the way for Linux. References to Linux were also found in previous test builds of Edge. The arrival of a Linux version of Edge is also somewhat obvious, as the new Edge is based on Chromium and there are already the necessary Linux browsers available based on this engine, such as Google Chrome, Opera and Vivaldi.

The Edge browser is already available for macOS, Android and iOS, in addition to the variants for Windows. The new Edge browser based on Chromium officially came out in mid-January for Windows and macOS. Exactly when the Linux version will be released is still unknown.
