Microsoft is holding an event on January 21 where it will introduce Windows 10 to the general public. The intention is that Microsoft will explain the consumer version of the new operating system, which will probably be released in the fall of next year.

The Redmond-based company has sent an invitation to several American media outlets, ZDnet reports, among others. During the event on January 21, the consumer version of Windows 10 will be discussed, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed. Which features are shown was not disclosed, but earlier a video came out of the speech and information service Cortana, which is already in Windows Phone.

According to ZDnet sources, only the Metro interface of Windows 10 will be shown during the meeting. The desktop interface will not be present with the presentation. In addition to showing the consumer features, Microsoft will probably release the January Technical Preview on January 21. That’s a new, early version of Windows 10 intended for testers.

Earlier there were rumors that Microsoft would be planning to show the consumer version of Windows 10 in January. The company has already released a technical preview of its new operating system, but it is not yet suitable for daily use.
