Microsoft has announced which editions of Windows 10 will all appear once the product hits the market this summer. The basic lineup consists of six versions, but more variants of the OS are coming. Among other things, there will be a Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise.

There is little change in the PC versions compared to previous Windows versions. The desktop version for consumers will be Windows 10 Home and for small businesses there will be Windows 10 Pro, Microsoft reports. This latest version will receive support for Windows Update for Business, with quick access to security updates and extensive management capabilities. For larger companies, there is Windows 10 Enterprise, which, compared to Pro, has more options for rolling out the software.

In addition, there is Windows 10 Education, which is based on Enterprise but is intended for schools and other educational institutions. The software for smartphones will be called Windows 10 Mobile, as the manufacturer has often hinted recently, but there will also be a Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise. This new version will be available to Volume Licensing customers and will allow you to manage how and when updates are rolled out, even though security updates are rolled out immediately.

In addition to those six basic versions, there will be variants of Windows 10 Enterprise and Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise for specific devices such as ATMs, cash registers and robotic systems, and there will also be a Windows 10 IoT Core for small inexpensive devices such as the Raspberry Pi 2 and gateways. Microsoft does not mention the Windows 10 versions that are standard on devices in its overview, such as the versions for Xbox One, the HoloLens and the Surface Hub.

Details about the different versions and prices are not yet mentioned by the group and Microsoft is also sticking to ‘this summer’ in terms of availability.
