Microsoft adds sync feature to Linux version of Edge browser

By admin on March 28, 2021

Microsoft is going to add a sync feature to the Linux versions of Edge. The feature is already available for the Windows and macOS versions of the browser, but is still missing for Linux. The feature will be available in version 91 of Edge.

The Linux version of Microsoft Edge 91 is currently being tested in the browser’s Dev channel, Ghacks also notes. Users can download this test version from Microsoft’s Insiders website. It allows users to sign in to their Microsoft account to sync bookmarks, browser settings, passwords, and extensions between Edge installations on different systems.

Users who want to use the sync feature in the current Insiders Dev version of Edge 91 can enable the feature by enabling “MSA sign in” in the edge://flags page. Users must restart the web browser before logging into their Microsoft account via the toolbar. If users do not enable this flag, the login will indicate that the platform is not supported.

The feature is not currently available on the stable Linux version of the Edge browser. According to Microsoft’s release schedule, Edge 91 will be released in the browser’s stable channel the week of May 27, 2021.
