Microsoft has announced that it has acquired Two Hat, a company that specializes in content moderation. It has not been disclosed how much money is involved in the acquisition by Microsoft.

Two Hat already provided services to Microsoft. For example, Two Hat’s moderation technology is used to manage communities of Xbox, Minecraft and MSN. With Two Hat’s technology, content can be automatically detected and removed. In addition, it allows users to filter content based on what they find acceptable.

Dave McCarthy of Xbox division writes that the acquisition was a logical step: “The acquisition is an important development in the long relationship between Microsoft and Two Hat, which allows us to combine innovative technologies, research capacity and highly skilled teams. ”

The acquisition does not mean that other Two Hat customers will no longer be able to use the company’s services. McCarthy emphasizes that current customers will simply remain customers: “This is an investment in assisting and serving existing customers of Two Hat.” So it will not be an exclusive service for the various Microsoft products.
