LG announces flat home theater set with smart TV functionality

LG has announced a new SoundPlate model. An audio set and Blu-ray player in one, the LAB540 also brings LG’s smart TV platform to TVs. Part of LG’s 4.1 audio set is a wireless 160W subwoofer.

The SoundPlate features bluetooth, hdmi connectivity and 4.1 channel audio with 320W output. Using WiFi or Bluetooth, a user can wirelessly stream music from a smartphone or tablet to the device. The SoundPlate also features a USB 2.0 port and can be fully controlled using the LG AV Remote app.

According to LG, the SoundPlate is 39.5mm thick and especially suitable for 32” to 55” televisions. It also has three profiles for audio reproduction: standard, music and cinema. The LAB540 will be available in Europe from May. Soon after, it will also be available in America and around the world. The price of the LAB540 will be around 600 euros.
