Lenovo makes ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga thinner

Lenovo announced new generations of its ThinkPad X1 Carbon and Yoga at CES. The ultraportables in the ThinkPad series are made even thinner than their predecessors.

The ThinkPad X1 Carbon has already entered its seventh generation and measures 14.95mm in thickness, thinner than the sixth generation at 15.95mm. The weight is still 1.13 kilograms. Lenovo supplies the laptop with a 10bit 4k panel with Dolby Vision support and brightness of up to 500cd/m². Optionally, there is a variant with a full-HD screen of 400cd/m². The laptop also has a speaker system with two upward-firing tweeters and two downward-firing woofers, which supports Dolby Atmos. Lenovo also optionally provides the laptop with a Cat 16 lte modem, which can handle gigabit speeds. The laptop will be released in June for a starting price of $1,709.

The new ThinkPad X1 Yoga is the fourth generation of this convertible, with an 11 percent thinner body than its predecessor. The weight is 1.35 kilograms. The laptop now has an aluminum housing and the screen edges are narrower than before. This laptop can also be supplied with Cat 16 lte support. Both laptops also get eighth-generation Intel processors and ThinkShutter sliders for both the HD and IR cameras. The ThinkPad X1 Yoga will be released in June for $1929.
