The Definitive Edition from Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available. The update for the Belgian-made rpg is free for everyone who already had D: OS2 on PC and replaces that game. The game is now also available for the Xbox One and PS4.

It is still possible to start the standard version of the game on PCs; old savegames are not compatible. Not only savegames, but also mods for the original game will not work with this edition, although the studio promises to help the modmakers transfer.
Developer Larian Studios released the game on GOG and Steam in the course of last Friday as well as Xbox One and PS4. Larian has put all the changes and additions of this edition in a Google doc which eventually became 53 pages long. However, there is a spoiler warning .
The main changes are the addition of 130,000 words of dialogue that have been added to a later part of the game and the rewriting of another 150,000 words to existing dialogues. They also have to ensure that all ends are tied together at the end of the story. Larian wants to take the criticism of act 3 to heart.
Furthermore, a number of fights have been added, the balance of fighting has improved and a story mode has been introduced. That is a level of difficulty that lies beneath the existing, easiest difficulty explorer and fully emphasizes the story and atmosphere of the game.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 is available for 45 euros on GOG and Steam, but on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the game costs 59.99 euros. Those versions do run at 4k resolution with 30fps, with support for HDR.
