Lamborghini wants to present and sell its first fully electric car in the second half of this decade. Lamborghini does not give details yet. The electric model is part of Lamborghini’s plan to electrify.

The first electric model is the final part of Lamborghini’s electrification plan. About this car, the Italian car manufacturer only says that it should “provide exceptional performance and be positioned at the top of the segment”.

Before the first EV appears, ‘a first hybrid’ should come out in 2023. It is striking that the brand speaks of first here; Lamborghini already has a hybrid model with an electric motor in the gearbox with the Sián FKP 37. It delivers 22kW or 34hp and uses supercapacitors instead of lithium-ion batteries for energy storage.

It is not obvious that Lamborghini also wants to use these super capacitors for its first EV. This battery technology can deliver more power than lithium-ion batteries, but can store less energy than a comparable-sized Li-ion battery. Lamborghini is investing 1.5 billion euros in four years for the electrification plan.

Competitor Ferrari wants to present a fully electric car in 2025. This manufacturer has not yet shared any details, although the company did talk about a supercar before. This company already has a plug-in hybrid with the SF90 Stradale.
