Kuo: Apple to unveil AirTags and augmented reality device in 2021

Apple may be planning to introduce its AirTags this year. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a report. There have been rumors about such object trackers for some time. The company is also set to release an augmented reality device this year.

Kuo reports that the products should be announced in the course of 2021, MacRumors also writes. There have been rumors about AirTags for some time now. References to such trackers in iOS already appeared in 2019, MacRumors noted, among others. AirTags can be attached to objects, after which they can be traced via an Apple device. The devices would be compatible with Apple’s ultrawideband chips and operated via the Find My app for iOS devices.

Apple isn’t the only company that seems to be working on such trackers. Smartphone manufacturer Samsung also seems to be working on Galaxy Smart Tags, which would offer a similar effect. Samsung will probably announce these trackers on January 14, along with the Galaxy S21 series.

Furthermore, Apple is expected to announce a new AR device this year, Kuo reports. The analyst does not provide details on this. However, this may be AR glasses or headset; There have been rumors for some time that Apple is working on such products. Jon Prosser, another analyst who regularly publishes correct information about Apple products, stated last year that Apple wants to release its first AR glasses before June 2021. Kuo further states that the company will announce new AirPods, Macs with Apple Silicon chips and devices with mini LED screens this year.
