Dodgeball game Knockout City will receive a next-gen update on November 2 that will allow the game to be played in 4k on Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5. On those consoles and the Xbox Series S, the game can also be played at 120 frames per second from that same date.

With this free update, players on next-gen consoles can choose between two modes: Performance and Quality. In Performance mode, the game runs on the PS5 in 1440p at 120fps; on the Xbox Series X, it’s 1620p at 120fps. In both cases, the resolution is scaled up to 4k. The Xbox Series S version runs in 1080p in this mode, but keeps the 120 frames per second.

In Quality mode, the game runs at 60 frames per second on all consoles, but that comes with a higher resolution. The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of Knockout City run in native 4k and the Xbox Series S has to do with a resolution of 1440p. Furthermore, EA says it has added improved lighting effects in both modes.

Knockout City was released by EA in May. The game is developed by Velan Studios, who also released the AR game Mario Kart: Home Circuit last year. Knockout City is an online multiplayer game in which players play dodgeball against each other as a team. The game is currently available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC, and costs twenty euros. The game will also be available for free on PlayStation Plus in November.
