According to laptop manufacturer Compal, Intel will release Tiger Lake-H processors early next year. These are 10nm processors with a maximum of eight cores for laptops. First, the Tiger Lake-U processors will be released in September, economical variants with four cores.

The usually trustworthy Twitter user momomo_us posts a message from Compal, in which the laptop builder mentions Tiger Lake-H. According to VideoCardz, it is still unclear whether that generation is a successor to the current 14nm laptop processors of the Comet Lake-H generation, or whether it is an alternative.

The Tiger Lake generation from Intel is the successor to Ice Lake and is made on an improved 10nm process. So far, Intel has only released low-power 10nm processors for laptops. The Tiger Lake-H series would add more powerful models. Currently, Intel’s H-CPUs have a tdp of 45W. The new 10nm variants would have a tdp of 35W.

The Tiger Lake processors also include Intel’s new Xe GPU for the first time. Details about the CPU clock speeds and GPU of the Tiger Lake-H processors are not yet available. Compal does state that the CPUs can only use ddr4, while the Tiger Lake-U variants also support lpddr5.

Tiger Lake-H was set to hit the market in early 2021. Intel comes first with Tiger Lake-U for thin laptops. Its official introduction was to take place on September 2. The U variants get a maximum of four cores and in most cases have a tdp of 15W. Intel itself has not yet provided information about Tiger Lake-H.
