Intel announces a new series of processors within the Alder Lake generation, intended for iot applications. The CPUs were previously codenamed Alder Lake PS and now fall under the P, U and H-series processors.

The iot processors come in various configurations within the E and L subseries, with the top models being designated with an HE and HL denominator. These CPUs have a maximum of 14 cores, 20 threads and a maximum TDP of 60 watts based on the boost clock frequency. The H-series becomes designated by Intel as 45W, which is the basic flow requirement. All i7 and i5 variants in the H series have an Iris Xe GPU with 48 to 96 eus. The processors in this series support DDR5 and DDR4 memory with a clock frequency of 4800 and 3200MHz respectively, and for the E subseries also LPDDR5-5200 and LPDDR4x-4267 memory.

The new UL processors have a maximum of 10 cores and 12 threads, a base TDP of 15 watts and a maximum of 90 EUs in the Iris Xe GPU. The remaining embedded processors under the PE and UE denominator have a maximum of 12 cores, 16 threads, support for all listed memory types and a base TDP of 28 and 15 watts respectively. Only the i3 and Celeron versions within the former Alder Lake PS processor series are equipped with an Intel UHD Graphics GPU.

According to Intel, all chips use a ball grid array housing for a relatively low profile, so that the iot chips could easily be incorporated into compact devices. Many of the announced Alder Lake PS processors, like comparable CPUs from the recent NUC 12 Pro kits, have support for vPro Enterprise.
