Intel acquires company for network-on-chip technology

Intel has acquired NetSpeed, an American maker of tools for automating the design of system-on-a-chips. The San Jose company will be part of Intel’s Silicon Engineering Group.

NetSpeed ​​Systems profiles itself as a provider of technology to create societies as quickly and cheaply as possible. The company’s tools help to create soc designs and the layout of interconnects between chip components. According to Intel, there is an increasing need for this type of technology, since socs become more extensive and complex.
NetSpeed’s network-on-chip technology works automatically and is scalable. Intel makes the acquired company part of its Silicon Engineering Group, the division led by Jim Keller, the chip architect who previously worked for Tesla and AMD, among others. Financial details of the acquisition are not made known by Intel .
