Hyundai wants to produce 500,000 hydrogen-electric cars annually from 2030 onwards

Hyundai has announced its FCEV Vision 2030 roadmap. The Korean manufacturer aims to increase the production of hydrogen-electric cars so that half a million units per year roll off the assembly line in twelve years.

Hyundai is working with KIA, part of the Hyundai Motor Group strong on fcev, or fuel cell electric vehicle. From 2030 the company wants to produce a total of 700,000 fuel cells per year, of which 500,000 for vehicles and the rest for drones, ships and forklift trucks.

With the FCEV Vision 2030 roadmap an amount of converted nearly 6 billion euros, which will be spent on research and the expansion of facilities. That must have delivered some 51,000 jobs by 2030, according to the manufacturer. Currently, subsidiary Hyundai Mobis produces around 3000 fuel cells per year, but a second factory in South Korea must have increased it to 40,000 units by 2022.

Hyundai announced at the beginning of this year the Nexo, a hydrogen car with a range of 800km that accelerates from 0 to 100km / h in about 9.5 seconds.
