Huawei’s HarmonyOS 2 has 10 million users. At least that can be deduced from photos of Huawei employees who name and celebrate this milestone. Huawei hopes to reach 360 million HarmonyOS devices this year.

Huawei employees celebrate reaching 10 million HarmonyOS devices with pies citing that number, according to Chinese sites such as MyDrivers. Huawei does not provide further details about the number of activations. The company uses the name of the OS for software for mobile devices, televisions, internet-of-things devices, wearables and televisions.

This year, Huawei hopes to reach 360 million HarmonyOS 2 activations and attract 1.2 million developers, according to Chinese reports. In China, HarmonyOS 2 is available for the Mate 40-. P40 and Mate 30 series of smartphones. In addition, the company equips the MatePad Pro with it, which also appears in Germany. A public beta will be released in July for the Honor 30 and V30.

Huawei is busy with the availability of its own operating system because it is no longer allowed to use Google’s Android services due to trade barriers. The company hopes that other manufacturers will also use its software. Incidentally, these are different operating systems that appear under a single name. The software for wearables and internet-of-things devices is based on Huawei’s LiteOS, while HarmonyOS for smartphones and tablets uses open source code from Android Open Source Project. Huawei confirmed the latter to Computerbase.
