Huawei presents P10 and P10 Plus smartphones

Huawei has announced the P10 and P10 Plus at its own event ahead of Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The smartphones share many features with the Mate 9 that the manufacturer released last fall, but are much smaller.

The P10 is the smaller of the two, with a 5.1″ LCD with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The Plus variant has a 5.5″ screen with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. This also concerns an LCD, in contrast to the OLED screen of the P9 Plus from last year.

The Kirin 960-soc in both phones has four heavy duty Cortex A73 cores with a maximum clock speed of 2.4GHz and four A53 processor cores for light duty at up to 1.8GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali G71MP8 at 900MHz.

Huawei P10

Like the Mate 9 and P9, the P10 and P10 Plus have dual Leica-branded rear cameras. One is a Bayer sensor for color photos with a maximum resolution of twelve megapixels, while it also includes a black and white sensor, with a maximum resolution of twenty megapixels. On the front is an eight-megapixel camera with an f/1.9 lens, which also bears the Leica name. The devices can film in 4k resolution and use h265 compression, which should ensure smaller files.

The P10 and P10 Plus also have an infrared port on the top, 3.5 mm jack for headsets and have relatively large batteries. The P10 has a 3200mAh battery, while that of the P10 Plus has a capacity of around 3750mAh.

Both smartphones run on Android Nougat with the Emui 5.1 interface from Huawei. Both devices will be released in the spring: the P10 on March 24 and the P10 Plus on April 10. In the Benelux, Huawei asks 599 euros for the P10, while the P10 Plus should cost 749 euros.
