A new HP laptop in the EliteBook series was spotted at a trade show that runs on a Rockchip and uses the Android-based Remix OS as software. It is still unclear when the laptop should be released and whether a European release is planned.

The laptop was shown at the Global Sources Fair in Hong Kong by Rockchip, not by HP itself. Notebook Italia noticed the new model and saw that it is an HP laptop in the EliteBook series. Rockchip itself only wanted to speak of a ‘big name’ who will release the laptop. The company wanted to tell you more about the hardware: the 12.5 “screen has a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and the Rockchip is of the RK3399 type. It has a total of six cores, with two of the Cortex A72-type. type and four of the Cortex A53 type, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage memory are also built in.

At the fair, the HP laptop was shown with Remix OS, a version of the Android operating system that has been made suitable for use on laptops. However, the product description hinted at other operating systems. For example, it is possible that the alternative Phoenix OS will still be chosen at the time of release. Chrome OS is also still an option.

Little is known about the release yet. It is unclear when the market launch is planned, and it is also unknown whether HP wants to release the laptop worldwide. Cheap hardware has been chosen, which means that HP may opt for an exclusive release for the Asian market, as has happened before.
