HMD has started to release Android 9.0 Pie for the Nokia 8. It is not yet about the final version. Previously, the Nokia 7 Plus already received the update for the latest version of the Android operating system.

Juho Sarvikas, the chief product officer for Nokia phones at HMD, says on Twitter that the upgrade to Android 9 for the Nokia 8 is taking a little longer than previously promised, which is why the company has decided to already release a beta version. This is available through the Nokia Beta Labs. Sarvikas calls on users to provide feedback to help HMD release the final version. It is unknown when the final version will be released.

Unlike the Nokia 7 Plus, the Nokia 8 does not run Android One and was part of the Android P beta program. The Nokia 7 Plus has had the final version of Android 9 since September and more and more other Android One devices from Nokia also receive Android 9.0 Pie, such as the 6.1, 6.1 Plus and 7.1. In addition, more and more recent Android smartphones have the latest version of Android , such as the Mi A1 and A2, both of which run Android One, and Xiaomi’s Pocophone. Users of the OnePlus 5 and 5T can now also install a beta of Android 9.

HMD announced in May that all its Nokia smartphones that are then made will receive an upgrade to Android 9 Pie. This concerns smartphones that were released last year and this year.
