Hitman developer IO Interactive has opened a third studio based in Barcelona. The studio will be working on Hitman, James Bond and a new, unannounced game. IOI’s other two studios are in Denmark and Sweden.

The new studio will be named IOI Barcelona and will work on all ongoing projects of IOI. This concerns both Hitman, the James Bond game that is still known as Project 007 and an ‘unannounced new game’. According to Danish IO Interactive, all three of the company’s studios are treated as “elite studios” and will all have a significant share in the development of all projects.

IOI Barcelona will be located in the center of the Spanish city and the core team has already been assembled. It is not known how many employees will be able to work. IOI still has many vacancies open, at all locations. The new studio in Barcelona has ten vacancies, but probably more than ten positions because, for example, there is a vacancy for ‘C++ programmers’.

At the end of January, IOI CEO Hakan Abrak spoke extensively about the development of the James Bond game. Abrak then said that that game has a completely new story and that a trilogy may emerge from it. Partly for this, new employees are needed and Abrak expected the studio to double in size. At the time of his statements, IOI had about two hundred employees.
