Apple will release numerous new products with M2 socs between the fall of this year and the first half of next year, according to insider Mark Gurman. For example, a new Mac Pro would appear, with M2 Ultra and M2 Extreme chips.

According to Gurman, Mac minis are coming with the M2 and M2 Pro, and new versions of the MacBook Pro 14″ and 16″ are coming with the M2 Pro and M2 Max. The headset for VR and AR, which Apple is reported to announce in early 2023, would also be equipped with an M2 soc. Gurman also reports that these glasses will get 16GB of RAM.

New versions of the Mac Pro desktop would feature the M2 Ultra and the M2 Extreme. Currently, Apple does not yet have an Extreme variant of an M-soc in its range. The M1 Ultra actually consists of two M1 Max chips linked together. The M2 Extreme may be a combination of two Ultra variants.

Gurman talks about a ‘deluge of new Apple products’ which will appear from this autumn until the first half of next year. He does not specify when the updated Macs will be released. However, the Apple insider says the company is also working on an M3 soc, which will appear next year in a new MacBook Air 13″, MacBook Air 15″, iMac and possibly a new 12″ laptop.

If Apple releases products with the M3 soc starting next year, it seems likely that many of the products that get an M2 soc will be announced this year. According to Gurman, that applies at least to new iPad Pro models of 11″ and 12.9″, which will also receive the M2 soc, the Stage Manager function and will be released this year. Apple is also said to have plans for a larger 14″ or 15″ iPad “in the next two years.”

Gurman also says that a new Apple TV set-top box is on the way, with an A14 soc and an extra gigabyte of memory. The current version has an A12-soc and 3GB ram. Next year, Apple would release a new HomePod, with a new screen on the top and ‘maybe’ with multi-touch functionality. Gurman also expects new AirPods Pro, with updated chips and ‘higher audio quality’.
