Google has released version 1.0 of its Android Studio development tool. The program for Windows, OS X and Linux focuses on creating apps for Android in an easier way than is possible with current tools.

The first final of Android Studio follows about a year and a half after the first release. Compared to other developer tools, this developer environment for Android applications includes live previews, including on multiple screen sizes and for multiple Android versions. In addition, developers can easily create APKs with different functions for various types of devices based on the same project. Android Studio is an idea based on IntelliJ Idea.

With Android Studio it is possible to make apps for Android smartphones and tablets, but also for watches based on Android Wear, for Android Auto and for the smart glasses Google Glass. Android Studio has been released for Windows Vista and above, OS X 10.8.5 and above, and Linux distros with a Gnome or KDE desktop.
