Google promises three Android XR glasses in 2026

That is a variant of the Android operating system. In addition, at least three smart glasses will use this platform. Google showed Project Aura, wired XR glasses that offer a 70-degree field of view. Images are projected onto both glasses, and you control them with your hands. So this is more of a VR headset that also seems to have augmented reality capabilities. However, Google is still keeping it mysterious.

Android XR

There will also be AI glasses on Android XR that appear to resemble those of Facebook and Ray-Ban, with no screen. They do have a camera, speaker, and microphone with which you can talk to the intelligent assistant. In addition, there are also full VR headsets that run on Android XR, such as the one from Samsung that recently appeared in South Korea. However, it is still all in the future for Europe: these glasses are not yet available, and they do not seem to be coming anytime soon. In 2025, there have been many teasers for these types of glasses, but in 2026, Android XR should be put more on the map with hardware that supports it. In any case, it fits perfectly with the news we reported earlier today: Meta is also putting more and more money into its glasses rather than the metaverse. Furthermore, Google showed more of the glasses during the Android Show, which you can watch in the video in the middle of this article. It is still unclear what these types of glasses will cost and when we can expect them.
