Google Meet gets quick menu for reframing and background effects

Video conferencing service Google Meet gets a quick menu for reframing or applying background effects to your own video stream. Until now this has been hidden in menus when a call is already in progress.

The quick menu pops up when users hover over their own video, reports Google. It is then possible to quickly reframe your own video so that the user is better visible. This also makes adding blur and other effects faster. Additionally, users can mute other users’ feeds to focus on just the speakers on a call.

The features will soon be available to all users of the software from next week. Reframing the shot is limited to subscription types that already included it.
